In 2015, Gould launched the inaugural Chic Spy Day to celebrate the style of fictional and onscreen spies in popular culture around the world. October 5th was chosen as the date to commemorate onscreen spy style because it is the date the first Bond film, “Dr. No“ (1962), premiered in London starring Sean Connery as British Secret Service agent 007. Known as much for his impeccable style as his daring exploits, who doesn’t recall Bond in one of his tailored tuxes famously requesting a martini “shaken, not stirred”? James Bond may be the chicest onscreen spy of all time, but there are many more to love on the big and small screen. The characters may be fictional, but their style is real.
In 2016, Chic Spy Day Soirée was created to bring local influencers together to observe the day in their city. The inaugural soiree was held in Scottsdale, Arizona on Oct. 3, 2016 at the historic Hotel Valley Ho. Local influencers including bloggers, media professionals, and style entrepreneurs were invited for an evening of fashion, film, food, and fun.
